Is Web 2.0 Social Networking Creating a Supermind Virtual Being
Is web 2.0 social networking creating a SuperMind a Virtual Being? Is it enabling an ever growing WorldMind that absorbs only the best part of human thinking? I know what you might be thinking; James is shroomin again…. but, before you click off in disgust, let's consider the possibilities. Some one once said, "May you live in interesting times", and I know that if they get any more interesting we might have to rethink that idea. Who could have foreseen China going capitalist and becoming our source of cheap(some say dangerous)do-dads and trinkets? Not to mention clothing, house goods, computers, HDTV's and countless other products and services. I just read where one of the major motor sport racetracks had four giant 1700lbs apiece granite racing slicks created in China and shipped to the States. What's up with that? Has China become the go to guy on the planet? What's more important in my eyes though is, The Chinese people are gaining more access to information. They have been bitten by the possibility of freedom, prosperity and access to the World Mind. Which is one of life’s highest values. So, let's look at one of the concepts of wealth. That's a big subject! And there are as many ideas about it as there are people. Right now we'll just tackle money.
Money is a crude outdated idea in my opinion. Obviously, it's an important piece of the wheel of civilization but, does money really exist? Haven't we simply placed an arbitrary value on an abstract idea? In the beginning of commerce it was a stone or shell. Later it evolved into substances that were even rarer such as gold, silver, and precious stones. These forms of money have maintained their value for thousands of years. Now we use paper, ephemera. Our paper money is quickly losing the faith of the people. After all, can something we use to start fires with be all that valuable? What I'm getting at is, people are the true store of value. Every advance in civilization has been imagined, explored, expanded, and implemented by some man or woman. The good ideas advanced the species, while the bad ones retarded us. And it's by the sharing of good ideas that we will move into the next phase of civilization.
Good new ideas will trash the bad old ideas of what money is and true values cannot be eroded. New ideas that value human beings who work for and serve their fellows are of the highest order. Imagine a world where you are paid what you're worth and it goes into your life bank. Then, when you want or need something you just go get it. Not with money but with life credits. They never lose value because they are based on the value you create as a human being. Everyone is guaranteed enough credits for the basics but if you produce more value, you earn more credits. And, these credits are universal. They're worth the same in the U.S. as they are in India. I dream of a world where everyone has more than enough to satisfy their every need and want. When you think about having all the money/credits you could ever spend, how would you live your life? What would you change, and how would it change you? These questions require answers but, they’re ones I believe will be answered in the coming ages. We will look back to the late 20th and early 21st centuries as the beginning of mankind’s emergence from the darkness of ignorance into the light of the Supermind. I know that it's a stretch to believe that we can get there from here, but, it’s vital that we work for the enlightenment of our fellow beings, human and non-human. Our wealth lies in how we treat each other and not the size of our bank accounts. So, as technology continues to shrink our world, web 2.0 and social networking allows us to experience earth’s peoples and wonders from the comfort of our homes. And, we can reach out and touch someone by joining in on this web 2.0 social networking trend which promises to annihilate old boundaries and prejudices. There are a lot of new web tools coming out like Toksee that will make it as easy as a mouse click to do this and I'll touch on some of those next time. So, keep on clickin, James
